We had the pleasure of leading an incredibly enjoyable seminar today with our chief instructor, Chris Denwood, focusing on the interesting topic of joint attacks in the realm of traditional karate practice. The seminar was a deep dive into a multitude of crucial elements, exploring not only the importance of maintaining safety protocols during training sessions but also shedding light on the contribution that joint attacks may play in practical self-defence. We also delved into the biomechanics that underpin the successful execution of joint attacks, emphasising the skills required to leverage these techniques effectively. Additionally, we examined how to identify and incorporate joint attacks within traditional kata, highlighting the blend between form and function inherent in karate practice. Based on this, we were able to elucidate the practical application of core principles to optimise effectiveness.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to participants for their dedication, hard work, and infectious enthusiasm – you all helped to make the seminar a resounding success! Until next time 🥋🙏👍
