Here at E.S.K.K Martial Arts & Fitness, we always try our best to congratulate and support where possible all our members who make an effort do that 'extra bit' for charity. As a group, we've raised many thousands of pounds over the years and we always like to donate at least once per year to a local charity. The way we see it, it's only fair to reach out and help support the same local community we hold our weekly classes to and this mutual camaraderie is one of the hallmarks of a traditional karate dojo. Recently, fellow dojo member, Bob Cloudsdale and a team of Cumbrian bike riders completed the Coast to Coast (C2C) in aid of the Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund. This is a great achievement and we would like to extend our congratulations to all who took part. below is a brief description in Bob's own words and a link to their 'Just Giving' page if you'd like to make a small donation to help support their cause... On the weekend of 24th – 26th April a group of us from the Solid Waste Project, Construction and Commissioning Teams at Sellafiled, accompanied by some of our supply chain colleagues, cycled the 140 miles of the C2C from Whitehaven to Tynemouth. We did this to raise funds for the Pancreatic cancer research fund. This was inspired by the fact that one of our team, Barry Hamilton was diagnosed with this type of cancer last summer. The typical survival rate is about 3%, but after extensive surgery, a mammoth fight and bouts of chemotherapy that are still ongoing Barry accompanied us on the ride. We wanted to raise awareness of this particularly lethal form of cancer and to try and help other sufferers. If anyone would like to donate to their charity page, it is under Hannah Simms name and can be found by hitting the button below... Bob and his team would like to thank everyone who has kindly donated and/or offered words of support.
