Over the weekend, we were proud to host our annual training camp at the beautiful 4★ Crown Hotel in Wetheral — a location that’s become a treasured tradition for us over the past 20+ years.
This year, 19 dedicated members from across our West Cumbria clubs came together for three days of intensive training, personal growth, and great company. With a wide range of experience levels represented, the camp offered something for everyone — and delivered an unforgettable martial arts and fitness experience. Participants immersed themselves in a diverse programme, covering: ✅ Kata and Bunkai ✅ Fundamental Techniques & Body Mechanics ✅ Personal Safety Tactics ✅ Pad Work Drills ✅ Mobility & Rope Flow ✅ Kobudo Training (Bo & Nunchaku) ✅ Tactile Sensitivity & Joint Attacks ✅ Chi-Ishi Conditioning & Kata Connections ✅ Functional Strength with Bodyweight Training ✅ Self-Defence & the Law ✅ Ground-Based Fighting Skills …and more! While the training was both challenging and enriching, we also made time to unwind. Whether it was relaxing in the hotel’s leisure facilities, sharing laughs over delicious meals, or simply enjoying the warmth of like-minded company, the weekend struck the perfect balance between discipline and downtime. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended and gave their all — your energy and enthusiasm helped make this year's camp another memorable success. We also extend our sincere gratitude to the wonderful team at The Crown Hotel for once again providing such fantastic hospitality and service. Here’s to continued growth, learning, and camaraderie. We’re already looking forward to next year!
