Traditional Karate Seminars with Chris Denwood
Chris Denwood is currently active on the national seminar circuit and is available to visit your dojo in order to share his unique and enthusiastic aproach to traditional pragmatic karate. Join the hundreds of people who have already gained something positive from Chris's teachings and learn how to make kata a deep study of combative principles and strategy-based training.

Kettlebell Lifting Workshops
No more sophisticated than a cannon ball with a handle on top, the kettlebell is a very old training tool that in recent years is making a swift and very sucessfull comeback.
Despite it's uncomplicated make-up, if used correctly, the kettlebell is actually an amazingly useful functional conditioning tool. As opposed to a dumbbell or barbell where the handle and grip is situated along the centreline of the weight, the kettlebell has the handle located on top and thus the weight is offset, which straight away challenges your core and stabalisers more in order to control it.
Furthermore, the exercises performed with a kettlebell are fundamentalMovements are more dynamic, ballistic and rely on the muscles of the body being trained together as a single unit, rather than artificially attempting to isolate them, which can cause practical imbalances and asymmetries across the body.
It’s really the versatility of the kettlebell that makes it stand out from the crowd. You can practice ballistic swinging motions to help develop the powerful posterior chain used in almost all functional movement and with just a ‘flick of the wrist’, move into more grinding exercises that stimulate more muscles groups than you ever thought you had!
Workout times are almost slashed in half when compared to standard resistance workouts and because kettlebell training stimulates both aerobic and anaerobic pathways together, each session becomes a complete physical challenge. This simple tool effectively builds greater strength, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, joint strength and structural stability. It helps to develop strong posture and burns fat like a turbo charged furnace!
Our kettlebells workshops can be delivered over a single day or a full weekend. Our one-day workshop includes an introduction to the kettlebell and focusses on developing a strong foundation so that participants can perform the fundamental exercises both safely and effectively. These exercises include the swing, snatch, press, clean, squat, windmill and Turkish get up. We also provide some advice for workout construction and how the kettlebell can be integrated into your current training regime.
Our two-day workshop covers the above and also adds a number of more advanced exercises as well as 'fine tuning' the foundational movements. Also included are many more drills and workout complexes, plus ways in which the kettlebell can be used to emphasise strength, endurance and explosive power. On top of all this, we also include a lecture on motivation and how the challenges of kettlebell lifting can transfer positively into everyday life.

Personal Safety Workshops
With the noticeable increase in local crime over the past few years, our personal safety workshops are designed to help raise general awareness and promote a simple but effective strategy that can be used to significantly reduce the chances of being 'chosen' as a victim of such offences as burglary, assault or theft etc.
Personal safety is all about becoming aware of your place in a society full of potential threats. It is about accepting and then eradicating weaknesses, developing strengths and successfully employing what are very often common sense principles that we’ve disregarded due to ‘modern day cultural conditioning’. It is about making sensible steps to maximise safety.
In this workshop we will share with you a number of proven tools to help develop good awareness and hazard perception skills for effective threat avoidance. We will also show you how to build strong 'layers of defence', reveal a number of simple things that you can do instantly in order to increase safety in and around your home, plus we'll provide ways in which to increase confidence so that you may stand up, embrace your fears and say NO!
